Residential Dumpster Rental across Northwest Arkansas

Homes around here vary enough that one container does not fit all of them. A tight driveway in an older Bentonville neighborhood wants a 10 or a 15 set down carefully; a bigger lot in Centerton or Bella Vista may have room for a 20 or a 30. For most home renovations and move-outs a 15 or 20 yard is the best balance of capacity and space, and the first thing we ask on the phone is what your driveway looks like.

Most residential jobs are one of three things: a cleanout (a garage, an attic, an estate, or a house before a move or downsizing), a remodel (kitchen, bath, flooring, roof), or the yard — landscaping or storm cleanup. Each wants a different size and a different talk about weight. The size comparison covers the numbers, the home cleanout guide covers the planning, and the phone call covers your job.

  • Extensions, swaps and early pickups by a quick call or text

What actually fills a residential container

Cleanouts lead the way: furniture, boxes, old decor and household junk from a garage, an attic or a whole house before a move. Remodels are next — drywall, flooring, cabinets and fixtures from a kitchen, a bath or a whole-home renovation. Then the outdoor jobs: shingles off a roof, branches, soil and shrubs from a garden makeover or a storm.

The alternative is the curbside cart, and it only goes so far. In Bentonville, yard waste may not go in the City's normal trash, and residents take it to the City composting facility at 2000 Northwest A Street. In Rogers, curbside carts may not hold construction materials such as lumber, drywall or shingles, dirt or bathroom fixtures. The Benton County Solid Waste District's special-waste drop-offs take household items only — no building materials and no household trash. Instead of multiple trips, a roll-off takes the whole job in one go.

Driveway placement, street rules and the city you live in

The driveway comes first. A driveway, pad or other flat, solid surface works best, and protective boards can go under the rails on request. The truck needs about 60 feet of clear approach and about 25 feet of clearance overhead. If you will not be home, mark the spot with cones or tape and text us a photo. In Bentonville, City Code § 42-80 says: "No pickups or hauling of refuse shall be made except by city-owned or authorized vehicles. Authorized vehicles shall be those as to which the owner has a written contract with the city." Homes and businesses use the City's collection service, run by a contractor under a City contract (§ 42-71), and we found no City page that mentions roll-offs or construction debris. So we check the City's requirements and the placement with you before booking.

The street is another matter. On a Bentonville street, a City right-of-way permit is needed for any work in the public right-of-way (§ 50-721), § 82-120 makes it an offense to obstruct a street, alley or sidewalk, and a truck over three tons may park on a street only while loading or unloading - in residential zones only between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. (§ 94-63). So the driveway comes first. Elsewhere the street rule is written down too: Rogers wants a ROW Use Permit before a dumpster goes in a street, right-of-way or public parking space, with a site plan and a traffic control plan for work in the street; Lowell bars obstructing any street or sidewalk (§ 22-5), so a Lowell container stays on the property; Springdale bars putting refuse or building materials on a street (§ 110-3); Siloam Springs bars obstructing streets and rights-of-way unless the administrator grants a written variance (§ 86-3); and Pea Ridge bars parking trucks over 6,000 lb on any street that is not a marked truck route (§ 8.08.01(E)). Arkansas law holds state highway right-of-way "inviolate for state highway purposes" and allows no encroachments in it (Ark. Code § 27-67-304), and we found no ArDOT permit for a container, so a container never goes in the right-of-way of I-49, US-71, US-62, US-412, AR-12, AR-72, AR-102 or AR-112. Each city page says what that city asks for.

Residential dumpster rental — the Arkansas specifics

Arkansas leaves most of the "what goes where" to cities, districts and facilities, and only a few items are covered by state law that we can point to: a used lead-acid battery may not go in municipal solid waste and has to go back to a retailer, a collection point or a recycler (Ark. Code § 8-9-303(f)), and whole tires may not go into a landfill unless cut up or shredded (§ 8-9-403(c)(3)(A)). Our own list keeps out the rest — paint, solvents and oils, fuel, hazardous chemicals, gas cylinders and propane tanks, medical waste, asbestos, and fridges or A/C units that still hold refrigerant. Household paint and chemicals belong at the Benton County Solid Waste District's special-waste drop-offs, which take households only, or the Washington County household hazardous waste center run by the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District. On an older house, check the roof and flooring before they come off: Arkansas's asbestos rule excludes residential buildings with four or fewer homes from its inspection and notice requirements (20 CAR § 860-104(32)(A)), but asbestos still never goes in our roll-offs. If you are unsure about an item, call before loading it — the what can and cannot go in guide says where the rest goes.

Residential Dumpster Rental — your questions answered

Not covered here? Call (479) 364-6745 and ask.

Will the dumpster damage my driveway?

We take every precaution to protect your property, and protective boards can go under the rails on request. If you are worried about a surface, you can also lay plywood or boards down before delivery — ask when you book so it is planned.

Can I put the dumpster on the street instead?

Only where the city allows it, and in Bentonville it is not the plan. A City right-of-way permit is needed for any work in the public right-of-way (§ 50-721), and § 82-120 bans obstructing streets and sidewalks. Rogers wants a ROW Use Permit before a dumpster goes in a street or public parking space, and Lowell bars obstructing any street or sidewalk (§ 22-5). On a state highway we found no ArDOT permit for a container at all. The driveway is always simpler.

Does my neighborhood association have a say?

It may. Association rules can cover containers on your lot, and we do not know your association's rules — let us know about them when you book, along with any tight driveway or limited access, and we plan the delivery around them.

Can I put old appliances or a mattress in the dumpster?

A mattress, yes. Small appliances usually, yes. A fridge, freezer or A/C unit only once the refrigerant has been properly evacuated and the unit tagged — otherwise our junk removal crew can take appliances with the Freon removed.

How long can I keep the container?

A standard rental period of 3 to 7 days, set on your quote. Need longer? Call and we extend it for a small daily or weekly fee. Finished early? Call or text and we schedule an early pickup.
